Celebrating 70 Years of Taekwon-Do: A Global Gathering of Passion and Purpose

By Roy Rolstad –

On April 11th, the global Taekwon-Do family comes together to celebrate 70 years of our beloved martial art. A full 24-hour virtual event—free and open to all—will connect practitioners across the world in a shared moment of reflection, inspiration, and learning. I’m honored to be one of the many speakers contributing to this historic celebration, representing ITF Radix.

My session will take place from 19:00 Norwegian time (CEST), and I’ll be guiding a 45-minute exploration of pattern applications, diving into how the Tul can come alive as a complete fighting system.

For us in ITF Radix, the patterns are more than choreography—they’re blueprints for real-world combat, strategy, and personal development. During my segment, I’ll be unpacking select movements from the patterns, interpreting them through the lens of modern application while staying rooted in the spirit of General Choi’s vision.

This event isn’t just a celebration—it’s a powerful reminder that Taekwon-Do continues to evolve, not by drifting from its roots, but by revisiting them with clarity and curiosity. I look forward to sharing the ITF Radix approach with practitioners from all corners of the world, and I invite you to join us—not just to watch, but to train, learn, and grow together.

The lineup of speakers is extraordinary, including names like Master Virginia Dionisi, Master Hong Looi, Sbn Katya Solovey, Master John McIlvaney, and many others, all culminating in a special appearance by Grandmaster George Vitale.

Whether you’re a beginner or a black belt, this celebration is for you.
