The ITF Radix Project
Exploring Personal Combat and Self-Defense Skills with ITF Taekwon-Do Patterns.
ITF Radix is a project to explore combat and self-defense applications, based on ITF Taekwon-Do and the 24+ patterns developed by the late Gen. Choi Hong Hi.
The word Radix means “root” (of a plant) or “the smallest meaningful unit” (of a language). It refers to the goal of our project: to research the roots and the tactical treasures of the ITF patterns to recover and develop techniques that have meaningful self-defense applications.

What Others Are Saying
“ITF Radix complements ITF Taekwon-Do, an eye-opener for me after 37 years of Taekwon-Do practice. Hosin Sul gets a whole different meaning with the tul-techniques as a basis.”
— Grand Master James Tjin Ton, former president of ITF-Netherlands
“The RADIX project is not regarded as a separate system, but merely a project to make practitioners and instructors capable of applying traditional pattern techniques in actual self-defense. It is inspiring and positively thought-provoking as it helps us as instructors to think out of the box and act creatively and intuitively.”
— Thomas Brandt, President ITF-Denmark
